چکیده

The Raman-induced spectral shift of ultrashort pulses, having its origin in the phenomenon of intrapulse Raman scattering occurring inside silica fibers, has been mostly studied in the context of optical solitons. We use the moment method to show that such a spectral shift occurs both in the normal and anomalous-dispersion regimes and depends not only on the pulse width but also on the frequency chirp associated with an optical pulse. The magnitude of spectral shift depends on the history of pulse width changes and saturates to a constant value if the pulse broadens considerably during propagation. 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. Cross-phase modulation and induced focusing due to optical nonlinearities in optical fibers and bulk materials

Cross-phase modulation (XPM) and induced focusing occur when copropagating ultrafast pulses interact in a nonlinear medium. XPM and induced focusing are investigated as new techniques to control the spectral, temporal, and spatial properties of ultrafast pulses with femtosecond time response. In this paper we review our most recent measurements on (1) induced spectral broadening in BK7 glass, (...

Laser Micro-Raman Spectroscopy of CVD Nanocrystalline Diamond Thin Film

Laser micro-Raman spectroscopy is an ideal tool for assessment and characterization of various types of carbon-based materials. Due to its special optical properties (CrN) coated stainless steel substrates. NCD films have been investigated by laser micro-Raman spectroscopy. The fingerprint of diamond based materials is in the spectral region of 1000-1600 cm-1 in the first order of Raman scatter...

Temporal and spectral self-shifts of dark optical solitons.

We report the discovery of temporal and spectral self-shifts of dark optical solitons propagating in single-mode fibers. These shifts become increasingly pronounced as the intensity and the fiber length are increased. We show that our data are in quantitative agreement with numerical solutions to a modified nonlinear Schrödinger equation that includes the Raman contribution to the nonlinear ref...

Theory of radiation trapping by the accelerating solitons in optical fibers

We present a theory describing trapping of the normally dispersive radiation by the Raman solitons in optical fibers. Frequency of the radiation component is continuously blue shifting, while the soliton is red shifting. Underlying physics of the trapping effect is in the existence of the inertial gravitylike force acting on light in the accelerating frame of reference. We present analytical ca...

In this paper, the interaction between an oscillating dipole moment and a Silver nanoparticle has been studied. Our calculations are based on Mie scattering theory and discrete dipole approximation(DDA) method. At first, the resonance frequency due to excitingthe localized surface plasmons has been obtained using Mie scattering theory and then by exciting a dipole moment in theclose proximity of...
